Though Aishwarya Rai Bachchan can speak Tamil fluently, rumours have it that for Mani Ratnam’s forthcoming film Raavan (which is being shot in two languages Hindi and Tamil simultaneously), few of her scenes will be dubbed by South Indian superstar Rajnikanth’s daughter who incidentally also shares the same name as Ash.
A source close to the development says, “Aishwarya Rai is not alien to Tamil as she made her debut in films with Iruvar, and has also worked in Jeans and Kandukondain Kandukondain. In all these films she has spoken the language and spoken very well indeed. But since she doesn’t speak it all the time, the film-makers felt that a couple of scenes required subtle emotions and the dialogues there needs to be expressed in a certain way.”
The insider adds, “Mani thought Rajnikanth’s daughter, whose name is also Aishwarya, can be of great help in this regard because since she is a Tamilian, she could express it properly. She and Mani share a good rapport and she has apparently already been roped in for the film.” Ash is also doing director S Shankar’s bilingual sci-fi thriller Robot, which has Rajnikanth in the lead.
